Mendora Tech

What Mendora Trends sends, and what mendora.tech keeps

Mendora Trends works on your computer without an account and without the internet. It connects to mendora.tech for three things: to check for updates, to fetch Mendora’s messages and, unless you turn it off, to send anonymous statistics a few times a day.

Anonymous statistics: what is sent

Only counts and general facts about the app, a few times a day:

  • The app version, the interface language, Windows 10, 11 or Linux, stable or beta
  • The month the app was installed, the number of active days, and whether it is the first run this week or month
  • How many presentations were made and how many exports of each kind
  • Which links were opened and how many times the app closed unexpectedly
  • Whether Mendora’s messages arrived and were seen, clicked or closed
  • Whether an update downloaded and installed

What is never sent

  • No identifier of any kind: no install, device or account number, no computer name, MAC address or hardware data.
  • Of the settings, only the interface language and the update channel (stable or beta) are sent.
  • Never the content of a presentation, its title, slide text, a file name or path, your name, your role, the chosen character, any other setting, an error text or a log line, and nothing about your plan.
  • These anonymous requests never travel with your account’s session, cookies or token.

When statistics are off

Turn them off in the app under Settings → App, “Anonymous statistics”. Then neither statistics nor message events are sent, and the counts kept on the computer are deleted at once. Update checks and Mendora’s messages still connect: they carry nothing about you, and every install gets the same answer.

What mendora.tech keeps

  • Counters only: how many installs of each version, platform, Windows or Linux, channel and language checked in each day, the month of installation as a group, and how often each event happened per release and per message. The request itself and the IP address are not stored.
  • mendora.tech keeps no IP address of the update checks, the messages and the statistics, neither in its application nor in its web server’s log.
  • Signing in to a mendora.tech account from the app is logged with the IP address and kept for at most 7 days.
  • The technical logs of mendora.tech’s server (the load balancer on Amazon Web Services) keep each request’s IP address, time and full address for 90 days, then delete them. With them, an anonymous request could be linked to others by IP address and time.
  • Downloads from dl.mendora.tech are not logged.
  • The download buttons on the mendora.tech website first go through a download counter on Make (EU), which counts downloads by the page they start on. Make receives the request, the IP address and browser details included, before it sends the browser on to the file on dl.mendora.tech.

If you linked the Telegram bot to your account, it may remind you before your Mendora Trends trial ends. Every such message has a “No more reminders” button. When you tap a message's button, only the time of the tap is kept, to count how many messages were opened.

School computers

IT staff can fix updates, messages and statistics for every user of a computer with a policy file. A policy only restricts. See “For school IT staff” on the download page.
